Title: WILTON CHOCOLATE BUTTERCREAM ICING

Yield: 3 cups
1 t Clear vanilla extract*
4 T Water
1/2 c Shortening
1/2 c Butter
3 oz Melted bittersweet
-chocolate
1 T Wilton Meringue Powder
1 lb Sifted powdered sugar
-(approx 4 cups)
*Note: Clear butter clear almond extracts can be included with
or substituted for the vanilla. Flavorings can be up to a total
of 2 t.
DIRECTIONS:
Sift the powdered sugar and meringue powder into a large mixing
bowl and set aside. Cream shortening, butter, flavorings and
water. Gradually add sifted dry ingredients and mix on medium
speed until all ingredients have been thoroughly mixed together.
Blend an additional minute or so until creamy.

Overnight Bread Pudding

1 8 oz loaf French Bread, ends trimmed, cut diagonally — 1
inch thick
3 c milk
6 lg eggs
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp butter or margarine
Grease a shallow 2 1/2-qt baking dish. Arrange bread in a single layer
in prepared dish, squeezing slices to fit if necessary.
In large bowl whisk milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla until blended. Pour
evenly over bread. Sprinkle cinnamon over top. Cover and refrigerate
overnight or up to 24 hours.
To Serve: Heat oven to 350. Uncover baking dish, dot pudding with
butter and bake 45 minutes or until set and a lightly golden brown.

Title: Soft Molasses Cookies

Yield: 1 servings
1 c Sugar
1 c Shortening
1 Egg
1 c Molasses
1 c Sour milk or buttermilk
4 1/2 c Flour
3 tb Flour
4 ts Baking soda
2 1/2 ts Ginger
Mix sugar, shortening, egg and molasses in bowl. Then mix flour,
soda, salt and ginger together. Add milk flour one after another;
blend together. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake
7 minutes in 350F. This recipe is from my grandmother in Nova
Scotia’s recipe box.

Basilgarlic Vinaigrette (Gc)

2 cups basil leaves — tightly packed
2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon chopped red onion
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup olive oil
salt and freshly ground pepper
Combine the basil leaves, vinegar, lime juice, garlic, onion, and honey in
a blender and puree. With the motor running slowly add the oil until
emulsified. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground pepper. May be
prepared up to 1 day ahead and refrigerated. Bring up to room temperature
before serving.
Yield: 1 cup
